Privacy Policy
Offshore Job Alerts ("we", "us", "our") is operated from Sofia, Bulgaria (EU). We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your data transparently.
1. Service Operator (Data Controller)
Offshore Job Alerts is operated by:
Ilia Kopranov
Registered location: Sofia, Bulgaria (EU)
Contact: info@offshorejobalerts.com
2. What Data We Collect
We collect the following categories of personal data:
- Email address: To send you job alerts and account communications
- Alert preferences: The job titles and keywords you configure, so we know which postings to send you (e.g. "Chief Engineer", "safety engineer")
- Service segment: Which edition of the service you signed up for — "offshore" (oil & gas) or "maritime" (merchant fleet). This determines which job sources you receive alerts from
- Interface language: The language you signed up in (English, Ukrainian or Russian), stored so we can show your dashboard and send links in that language. This is a language preference only — we do not infer nationality, ethnic origin, or any other special category of data from it
- Subscription data: Subscription status (including
trial_no_cardandtrial_expired), plan type, billing period dates, trial end date (trial_ends_at), and Paddle customer/subscription identifiers — used to manage your account and determine active access - Analytics data: Basic usage data through Google Analytics (pages visited, device type) — only if you consent
We do not collect passwords or payment card details. Card data is entered directly into Paddle's checkout and never passes through our servers.
3. How We Use Your Data
Your data is used exclusively to:
- Send you offshore and maritime job alerts matching the job titles and keywords you selected
- Manage your subscription and send billing-related communications, including free trial warning emails (day 13) and trial expiry notifications
- Improve our service based on usage patterns
We never sell, rent, or share your email address with third parties.
4. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR Art. 13(1)(c))
We process your personal data on the following legal bases:
- Contract performance (Art. 6(1)(b)): Delivering the job alert service, managing your subscription or card-less free trial, and sending billing and account communications (including trial status notifications). Without this processing, we cannot provide the service.
- Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)): Collecting usage data via Google Analytics — only after you click "Accept Analytics" in the cookie consent banner. You may withdraw consent at any time via the "Cookie Settings" link in the footer.
- Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)): Security monitoring and fraud prevention necessary to protect the integrity of our service. Our interests do not override your data protection rights.
5. Data Processors & Storage
Our service is operated from Bulgaria (European Union). We use the following third-party data processors, each bound by data processing agreements and applicable data protection law:
- Google LLC — database and cloud infrastructure hosting. Certified under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework. Data may be processed in the US and EU.
- Paddle.com Market Ltd — payment processing and subscription management. Acts as merchant of record; receives your email address and processes subscription lifecycle events. Paddle is based in the UK and complies with UK GDPR.
- Resend Inc. — transactional email delivery (job alerts, login links, billing notifications). Receives your email address solely to deliver emails on our behalf. Based in the US.
- Google LLC (Analytics) — usage analytics via Google Analytics, only if you consent. Data is processed under Google's standard contractual clauses.
- Functional Software, Inc. (Sentry) — application error monitoring. Receives technical diagnostic data when something goes wrong in your browser or on our servers (error message, page URL, browser and operating system version, and — where an error occurs while you are signed in — your account identifier). Used solely to detect and fix faults. Based in the US.
We do not transfer your data to any other third parties, and we never sell or rent your personal data.
6. Your Rights (GDPR)
Under EU data protection law (GDPR), you have the right to:
- Access (Art. 15): Request a copy of your data
- Correction (Art. 16): Update incorrect information
- Deletion (Art. 17): Request removal of your data from our system
- Restriction (Art. 18): Ask us to limit how we process your data while a dispute is resolved
- Portability (Art. 20): Receive your email address and alert preferences in a structured, machine-readable format, or have them transmitted to another provider
- Objection (Art. 21): Object to processing carried out on the basis of our legitimate interests
- Withdraw consent (Art. 7(3)): Withdraw analytics consent at any time via "Cookie Settings" in the footer, as easily as it was given
- Unsubscribe: Stop receiving job alerts at any time via the link in any email
To exercise these rights, email us at info@offshorejobalerts.com. We will respond within one month of receiving your request, as required by GDPR Art. 12(3). Exercising these rights is free of charge.
Right to lodge a complaint (Art. 13(2)(d)): If you believe we have handled your data unlawfully, you may complain to a supervisory authority — in Bulgaria, the Commission for Personal Data Protection (cpdp.bg) — or to the authority in your own EU country of residence.
Automated decision-making (Art. 13(2)(f)): We match job titles against the keywords you choose in order to decide which alerts to send you. This is a filtering step you configure and can change at any time; it produces no legal or similarly significant effect. We do not carry out profiling or automated decision-making beyond this.
7. Data Retention
We retain your personal data for the following periods:
- Active subscription accounts (email address, alert preferences, subscription status): retained for the duration of your active subscription, plus 30 days after cancellation to allow reactivation, then deleted.
- Free trial accounts (unverified): if you start a card-less free trial but do not verify your email address, your account data is hard-deleted after 7 days. A one-way hashed record of the email address is retained for 12 months solely to prevent trial abuse.
- Free trial accounts (expired): if your card-less trial ends without upgrading, your account data is retained for up to 12 months to allow reactivation, then deleted.
- Billing records (Paddle transaction identifiers, billing period dates): retained for 7 years to comply with EU and Bulgarian accounting law.
- Email delivery logs (sent timestamps, delivery status): retained for 90 days by Resend, then automatically purged.
- Analytics data (Google Analytics): retained for 26 months (Google's default data retention setting), provided you have given consent.
If your account has no active subscription and you have not engaged with the service for more than 12 months, we will delete your account data automatically.
8. Cookies and Analytics
We use the following cookies on this site:
| Cookie | Provider | Purpose | Duration | Requires Consent |
|---|---|---|---|---|

You can withdraw analytics consent at any time via the "Cookie Settings" link in the site footer.
9. Security
We use industry-standard security practices, including HTTPS encryption and secure access controls. However, no internet transmission is 100% secure.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as our service evolves. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
Terms of Service
By using Offshore Job Alerts, you agree to these terms.
1. Service Description
Offshore Job Alerts is a job notification service that sends email alerts about offshore and maritime job opportunities. We aggregate publicly available job listings and send them to subscribers based on the job titles and keywords they select.
This is an alert service only. We do not place candidates in jobs, provide recruitment services, or guarantee employment.
2. Subscription & Pricing
Offshore Job Alerts is a paid subscription service sold in two editions, each covering different job sources and priced separately:
- Offshore (oil & gas) — offered at offshorejobalerts.com/us: $7.90/month or $79/year (saving approximately 17%)
- Maritime (merchant fleet) — offered at offshorejobalerts.com and its Ukrainian and Russian versions: $3.90/month or $39/year (saving approximately 17%)
Terms common to both editions:
- A card-less free trial is available on either edition — no payment information required. Its length differs by edition: 14 days on Offshore (oil & gas) and 7 days on Maritime (merchant fleet). Trial access begins when you verify your email address via the magic link we send
- Paid plans bill immediately upon checkout completion — there is no trial period attached to the monthly or annual plans
- Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period, at the same price, until you cancel. You may cancel at any time from your dashboard (see section 5)
- All pricing is displayed in USD, inclusive of any applicable sales tax or VAT calculated by Paddle for your country, and is shown in full before you complete checkout. No fees are added afterwards
- A subscription covers one edition. It does not grant access to the other edition's job sources
Payments are processed by Paddle, our authorised reseller. Your paid subscription starts immediately upon checkout completion.
2a. Availability and Payment Restrictions
Paddle, our payment processor and merchant of record, is subject to international sanctions law. Cards issued in Russia or Belarus cannot be charged, and checkout from those countries will fail. This is a restriction imposed on our payment provider and is outside our control.
This affects payment only, not access to information: the Russian-language version of this site is provided for the many Russian-speaking seafarers living and banking outside Russia and Belarus. If you hold a card issued elsewhere, checkout will work normally regardless of the language you use the site in.
The card-less free trial requires no payment method and is therefore available to you regardless of where your card was issued.
3. No Guarantees
We provide job alerts on an "as is" basis. We do not guarantee:
- That any specific job will be available or suitable for you
- Employment or interview opportunities
- The accuracy of third-party job listings
- Uninterrupted service (we may experience downtime)
4. Your Responsibilities
You agree to:
- Provide a valid email address
- Not use our service for spam or illegal purposes
- Verify job details independently before applying
5. Cancellation & Refunds
You can cancel your subscription at any time from your dashboard or by contacting us at info@offshorejobalerts.com. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period — you retain full access until then.
No-card free trial: The card-less free trial requires no payment information. To end your trial early, simply do not log in — your account will be automatically removed after the trial period without any charge. There is nothing to cancel and no payment to reverse.
Refunds are not provided for partial billing periods on paid plans.
You can unsubscribe from job alert emails independently at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any email, without cancelling your subscription.
6. EU Consumer Withdrawal Rights
If you are an EU consumer, you have the right to withdraw from this contract within 14 days of subscription activation without giving any reason (EU Consumer Rights Directive, Art. 9).
To exercise this right, contact us at info@offshorejobalerts.com with a clear statement of your decision to withdraw before the 14-day period expires.
Card-less free trial: No payment is taken for the card-less trial, so there is no sum to reimburse. If you do not wish to continue, simply allow the trial to expire — no action is required and no charge will occur.
Paid subscriptions — exception for digital content: Paid plans (monthly or annual) bill immediately upon checkout. If you start receiving job alerts during the 14-day withdrawal window, you expressly consent to early performance and acknowledge that the right of withdrawal is lost upon commencement of delivery of digital content.
If you withdraw from a paid subscription before receiving any job alerts, we will process a full refund within 14 days. If delivery has already commenced and you withdraw within the 14-day window, we will reimburse the unused pro-rata portion of your current billing period, processed within 14 days of receiving your withdrawal notice.
7. Limitation of Liability
Offshore Job Alerts is provided for informational purposes. We are not liable for:
- Job application outcomes
- Actions taken based on job alerts
- Third-party website content or accuracy
- Lost opportunities due to service interruptions
Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for the service (if any).
8. Intellectual Property
All content on offshorejobalerts.com, including logos, text, and design, is owned by us or licensed to us. You may not copy, reproduce, or distribute our content without permission.
9. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of Bulgaria and the European Union. Any disputes will be resolved in Bulgarian courts.
10. Changes to Terms
We may update these terms as our service evolves. Where a change materially affects your rights or the price you pay, we will notify you by email at least 30 days before it takes effect, and you may cancel before the change applies without penalty. Minor clarifications that do not affect your rights take effect on posting.
11. Language of These Terms
The site interface is available in English, Ukrainian and Russian. This English text is the only version of the Privacy Policy and Terms of Service, and is the version that governs your contract with us in all languages. Any translation we may publish in future will be provided for convenience only; in the event of any discrepancy, this English version prevails.
If any part of this page is unclear to you in English, email info@offshorejobalerts.com and we will explain it in Ukrainian or Russian before you subscribe.
